The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published notice Monday that its environmental decision for Morganza to the Gulf storm risk reduction features in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes is publicly available.

The November 2 Federal Register notice concerns a Record of Decision signed October 14 by the Corps’ Mississippi Valley Division commander. It marks the conclusion of the environmental impact analysis described in the notice, not a decision signed Monday.

The decision addresses the recommended design of coastal storm risk reduction features examined in a final supplemental environmental impact statement. The Corps published notice that it would prepare that supplemental study on June 20, 2024.

Monday’s notice does not announce new funding, a construction start or a completion date. It also does not describe the specific design features covered by the decision.

The notice directs readers to the Corps’ Morganza to the Gulf project documents page for the Record of Decision.
